Counseling is the process and interaction between an individual and a skilled mental health professional. A counselor can assist you in clarifying your concerns, understanding relationships, gaining insight into yourself and others, and in seeking the most effective and satisfying solutions in resolving and coping with your problems.

Counseling is an opportunity to share your most intimate thoughts and concerns with absolute assurance of confidentiality and privacy. Counselors are required by law to report situations involving abuse or neglect of a child or elderly person, suicide or homicide, but this is always discussed with you prior to reporting. Apart from these exceptions, counseling is a safe forum to discuss anything troubling you with a counselor that is always on your team.
